I have started this new thread to make things easier to keep track of between versions.

Today I tested a new beta I have compiled today using Igglybob's 1.22b.1 source, which contains some commented out sections to implement some fixes that Igglybob was too busy to make, it can be downloaded from here...

http://www.hoverrace.com/devel/download/bin_v1.22b.2.zip

As usual, just extract it to your HoverRace folder (not the bin folder), you will then launch "HoverRace\bin_v1.22b.2\bin_v1.22b.2.exe".

Minor updates in this version.

1. Ability to play online now restored, a small update to comment out the 'same registration key' check; thus allowing people to play against each other in all game modes
2. Removal of the reg key from time submitting (so that my name is just Austin and not Austin[0-0]).

And thats all Smile, I know its small, but I though it was imperitive to get online play working again. At present only the PHP Room will work, but using the "/ip" command, you will be able to change your IP to your Hamachi IP, for example:

/ip 5.30.40.50

Let me know if you have problems.

Happy racing.

Nice one! That should fix the main problem, I think.

Geo Cloaking, it's an problem that more than you alone is having with the new release's.

Igglybob will try and fix this as soon as he can; my girlfriends PC is a perfect candidate to try it on as it cannot play the 1.22b beta's.

It too crashes like you described.

With having the luxury of being able to test on my girlfriends PC to find out where it crashes exactly, I've been able to narrow down a few things.

When referring to my PC I will call it PC1 and when referring to my girlfriends, I will call it PC2.

It seems that the game crashes only when creating a game. This means it is most likely an issue in the "MR_SelectTrack" section. My reasons for thinking this is that for each creation of a game, it calls first on the window to select a track; which is when it crashes.

With PC1 hosting and PC2 joining, their is no issues, the game does not crash.

When PC2 tries to host, the game shows a runtime error.

I will take a look tonight at the code and attempt to find out what the issue is. Thanks to the people who tested 1.22b.1, I have a few people who I can trial out things with besides just my girlfriends PC.

We will have to see how it goes.

Practice and hosting works fine on my Win 98 install from 07-2003. I tried to test joining with my other PC but i get "Unable to connect" even when switching both to their network IPs, dunno about that one.

Could be a cross platform issue, but seems unlikely Confused.

- Currently, I can't connect to caster2 in any way on version 1.22b (PHP room, Hamachi room, network game, him hosting or me hosting), but it has worked before. In the end it worked on 1.21, but only with me hosting, not with him hosting.

- Caster found a way to get into the old IMRs with 1.22, restart the game before joining it. Dunno how, but it worked for me.

He uses Windows XP Home, not 2000 as reported previously. Our hamachi connection is blue, not green.

A blue Hamachi connection is NOT a good thing, it indicates that the connection is relayed, which is potentially why you were struggling to connect.

How bad was the freeze Labatts? Like... a split second or a complete lockup?

Potentially, because the game runs on software mode, your PC is unable to sustain enough process power to meet the demands of 1024x768 software mode; so you should consider using a lower resolution.

After some confusion I have removed a lot of the files from the download page; only leaving 1.21b setup and Hamachi.
