Ok, so we tested Hamachi before, we dismissed that it worked because we couldn't join in the IMR nor on the GAME > NETWORK mode.

BUT, I needed someone to test a track with me, and Xander was the only available one. He couldn't join in the IMR, as he has a Speedtouch Router. So we tried Hamachi, and it didn't work either.

Sooo as a last attempt, we went into NETWORK > GAME and used the Hamachi IP to connect, and it worked both ways.

Going to do some other tests with router'd players.

From early testing, kittygal on DMZ, and Glen without DMZ, both successfully connected.

*waiting for another player behind a router to join*

Yeah Killerj got in fine too, all can see each other.

Just had a 2 vs 2 game on that sports track I'm making, and 4 people were on routers, only two were configured for DMZ, but with Hamachi it didn't matter Smile, every person joined, and no specific order was required.

HAMACHI FTW!

It doesn't work in the IMR (as said in the first post Razz), it's easy to set up (works windows to linux apparently).

I'll also write a tutorial on the "unable to connect page" later tonight when I'm home from work.

And the fix DOES apply to everyone, even the ones without routers. WHY? Because you need to be on the Virtual Private Network to connect to each other. If you didn't install Hamachi, your normal connection wouldn't recognize the 5.*.*.* ip's, the only downside, is you can only have a max of 15 free users on a single network, but i guess you can simply make a network each time a lot of you are in the imr, and just all join it on the day. I would pay for Hamachi but it costs per MONTH which is fairly rediculous, and doesn't benefit anyone if I did.

I'd also like to thanks either BaP (I think it was BaP), he originally showed me Hamachi.

Ok thanks, your post confused me because it said "nor in the GAME->Network" lol

anyway,

Another question.... Why does it not work in the IMR? Smile

I might play around with this when I get some time off.

FRom looking at the website, yeah... that program looks very interesting.

Can I define what it can and cannot do? This is prolly silly but I have to make sure that nobody can use it to access my router and other computers on my network before installing network software.

It just puts you and the other users in the group in a LAN, so you can see them in My Network Places and in LAN menus of games, but not the other PCs in their networks. It gives everyone a 5.x.x.x IP which is used along with your other IPs I think.
Hamachi appears as a second network connection for me.
