We all realistically know that HoverRace nowadays only exists due to a few players who will never let the game die.
The rooms lie empty for hours and hours on end, this is no inspiration for people to come and play. I myself have been on games before, finding their servers empty, and then never playing again, no matter how fun the game is.
We all need to consider idling in the IMR even if we're not looking, and looking at the room when we've got a spare minute or two, who knows some n00b might just be in the IMR as you do this and hey presto we've got another player racing. I understand the firewalls/router issue mean this isn't always easy, but hey, this game is 10 years old now, if you want it to keep going, we all have to make sacrifices and theres a page on the main site you can paste to them which isn't too hard to follow I don't think (if you think otherwise then TELL ME!).
I even put this suggestion to people who no longer have time to play the game, HR isn't a resource hog, we need to fill up the room and keep it somewhat filled. BaP, PLEASE get Poop finished up ASAP, I really think he'll help a lot.
Another thing that could help is possibly inviting gamers from other games to give it a try, sometimes retro gaming appeals to some folk, even if you're playing something like Battlefield 2.
I don't really have any other idea's outside of that, that could help the game further. The main site has enough content to help a new player get to grips with the game I think.
So come on, come idle in the IMR, please !

| That's why we need a dman good in-room bot and a windows taskicon with the number of people in the imr. Ya could make it play a sound when someone joins the room |

Haha Skel! I've said this to like 5 people in the last few days !!!
Things I've suggested are msn like popups where it says who joined the room, another one to inform someones typed a message (or a sound), and another when a race is on the game list. Maybe even another sound for a /msg.
HaP said it'd be also good to have a button to launch HR.
These could all be turned on or off in an options menu or something, and HR's executable location could be set (if you wanted to choose the loader or just no cheats all the time). |

I know nothing about system tray / networking apps so I really wouldn't be much help here. Normally I'd be happy to learn about it but I'm not sure I have the time. : \ _________________ <www.igglybob.com> |

| Sorry about taking so long on Poop, Austin. I have been working a lot and been distracted with other things. I'll give you a prototype sometime next week that you can host in the IMR 24/7. |

I think PHRA would help. I mean, you put a good amount of time into it and it can run itself (SGs at the very least). I know you got pissed at the last tournament, but it's not like you have to run those - even with only SGs some people will still have a reason to race each other. Remember how many people popped up last time PHRA restarted? _________________ <www.igglybob.com> |

It's been possible to do SGs for over a month, hasn't it?
edit: Yes, and there have been a few, and there have been signups too. |

Also, you can enable/disable them yourself, since you're staff... |
