Basically at the moment, our on-site installer installs 1.21 if I'm not mistaken.
Anyone who downloads HoverRace at present cannot get online, which I think is terrible.
I know Igglybob wants to finish the network code before we release something, but I'm just concerned his busy schedule will mean that could be a few weeks or more.
What do you think Igglybob? |

| I agree with this, we can't have a completely broken (for online play) version up as the latest release... Just something that works online would be nice, doesn't need to have all the latest improvements (which might have bugs anyway). |

If I'm honest Vigilante, I don't really value your opinion when it comes down to discussion about the progress of the source, you've not been active enough to have a valid opinion.
Ok, so lets just tell all the people who have played HoverRace that we just released HoverRace 1.02 and now imagine the confusion.
I know technically you are right, but we don't really have much choice, and it would be too confusing otherwise for most people.
Igglybob did not want to release 1.22.5 as far as I could tell from last speaking to him. He said he'd have some free time soon enough. |

Just a small side note: I have banned Vigilante from the forums. He really does nothing but point out the obvious in a fashion that suggests he is much more intellectual than anyone else here.
Our 'decentralised' hack has been out for over a year or two now, I don't believe going back to 1.02 or 1.03 is necessary.
I posted here on a public forum because Igglybob is normally not so easy to reach via IM or email and the forums messaging does not pop up to tell you that you have a new message, that's why I finished the post with "What do you think Igglybob?" and not "What do you think everybody?".
The best way forward would be 1.23, we'd just have to publicise some form of change log to indicate how we came to that version number. Either that, or go to 1.3. |

gg, banning 33% of the active people here again
Oh well, knowing you and bans, it'll be lifted soon enough. Of course he's annoying and what you said is right, but that's no reason to ban him. Just skip his posts or something, like me.
Going to 1.3 sounds good to me, this is a bit of a bigger step than a new launcher or whatever prompted 1.21. |

Oh yeah, I should answer this post. Time cleared up a little and I've spent the weekend working on 1.23 (not 1.3, not 1.2, not 1.1, not 1.337; anything else is confusing). It doesn't offer enough new functionality to call it 2.0.
Anyways, my testing versions seem pretty successful with nearly all clients. Things get a little complicated when the server and one or more clients is on a specific internal network (and other clients are not). One way to avoid the problem is to have external clients connect first. But, I'm getting closer to a solution for that anyway. If worst comes to worst and I can't solve it it could be released as is.
HaP suggested some time back that the HR networking model be moved to something more modern -- clients aren't connected to each other, but everything is relayed through the server only, and only TCP. But that's a project for another day.
Also, I agree with Zooz. _________________ <www.igglybob.com> |

He's at least active. I don't agree moving back to v1.01 or 1.1 or whatever, but it's not a reason to ban someone. As he said, he's just trying to help.

I do help if I can, but don't ban people for (almost) no reason. That's the quickest way to make people leave...

I'm not trying to offend you, but a normal email does pop-up and a forum post doesn't... |
