WHOA!!!.. haha... let me introduce myself.. I'm Larry, I believe my username on here wasl ike.. Jetbomber or something.. and I created some very detailed unique tracks.. off the top of my head.. i think something like "Alpine 3D Downhill Ski Racing" or something like that..

I was going thru my harddrive this morning on my old computer trying to delete some stuff that I never went thru or didn't need no more.. until I ran into a folder full of my hoverrace tracks that I made... then I decided to go to hoverrace.com to see if it's even here.. and.. to my amazement.. IT STILL IS!!!

I remember hoverrace was the first game i've ever played or.. had to ask my mom if I could pay 20 dollars for the full version of the game and it wasl iterally my first paied game ever since I had a computer like.. back in 6th grade.. I believe that was like 9-10 years ago!!!

Haha.. just amazed... does the games still work on the computers now a days? haha.. never had a chance to look around except to sign online and post on here. Smile

Well just saying hello after 10 years!!! Smile

Best Regards,
Larry

It works fine with Windows XP, just routers and firewalls give some problems when playing online nowadays.
But thanks to the program Hamachi we can get around that, you can read about it on this site.

Also, there is a better track/records site than ever, and there are PHRA tournaments every weekend.

As for non-Windows OSes, it usually works just fine under WINE. I haven't tried Cedega though I've been meaning to, maybe I'll get around to that soon.

You ought to upload some of those old tracks if they're not already on the tracks server Smile

Heh yea.. thanks for the welcome. Yea I think i'll upload tehse bunch of tracks that I still have left.. is there a way to edit the username or.. i forgot if they were actually embedded into the tracks or not.

And.. does the program to make the track still work under Win XP? Would like to make some more if people are still playing with it Smile I remember a fellow guy back then.. did something even more crazier then I did.. off the top of my head.. think his name was like.. Bird of Prey or soemthing? Or maybet hat was the track name, but his tracks were even crazier then mines! He spent so much time on it and that's how he inspired me to make detailed tracks haha and invisible walls and etc...

Kitty Gal, haha i'm on your hero lists? What qualifies me for that? Smile I noticed in your profile you said yoru a student and artist? Would you mind me asking waht type of artist? I'm going thru a career change and have a job at Pixar Animations as an animator Smile

Best Regards,
Larry

Got another question... I just looked at the trakcs uploaded on this place and as far as one of my tracks it's still up here.. and next to it.. i remember my number haha.. 1-853 I remember i had to pay for that.. does that still mean anything 10 years later? haha.. i assume everything is free now...

Yes, indeed it does - HoverCAD works just fine. I am currently working (albeit a little slowly) on a project called HoverCAD Unlimited (silly name, but here's a link to click on) which is an attempt to make a better track editor. It works decently and it's getting close to having the same functionality as regular old HoverCAD. You can check it out (and dive around in the source and have some fun) if you like.

people i admire ususally have a personal quality that no one else can really obtain. sadly they can also lose it without relizing. i've seen it happen to a few people i've admired. they could also do something really great that i appreate and couldn't do myself. i dunno i try to hold a respect, but for artists it's hard for me to appreate their work if i don't like their charature. i guess that's everything to me. why admire someone if they don't have a heart?

i'm a freshman at the kansas city art institute. today was the first day (mon) of classes and i have 9 hours of art work due wed. foundations will be great for a base, but i don't know what i want to do with myself yet. i've always loved drawing, but i'm not to familiar with painting. I've done a little photography, bronze resin casting, digitial art, ceramics/scupture, and glass bead making. i have a strange gift with composition. it's just i wish i knew more. animation is a major here, but i have no experiance in it. kcai we have a foundation year and then we jump right into a major. just would be really risky jumping into something i've never done before. i kinda have high goals for myself. i want to do enough work to get a full ride in a grad school.

does pixar offer any internships by any chance?
where are you going instead? o.O thought that was a good company.

here's some art if your interested in seeing:

Thats a lot of talent right there, I've always liked your art Kitty.

My girlfriend really loves the cat-by-window piece.

Yes, it still works, in fact I released a track today.
I think BoP made Erebor and Khazad Dum and other such big tracks. They're great, but nowadays tracks like Planet Zuutak and Mount Everest are bigger, and invisible walls or fake walls are normal. There are some very detailed tracks out there now, like some of Austin's tracks or his sports track, or King of the Road's tracks (Glass Tunnel for example).
I'm sure others can think of more detailed tracks ^^
